MISION Karumbé (tortuga en lengua Guaraní) es un grupo de investigadores, pescadores,
conservacionistas y estudiantes organizados en una asociación sin fines de
lucro. Nuestra Misión es proteger la biodiversidad marina en peligro,
principalmente a las tortugas marinas y sus hábitats, y promover el
desarrollo sustentable de las comunidades pesqueras, buscando alternativas
para reducir el impacto de las actividades humanas en estos animales
migratorios. Karumbé utiliza la investigación, la
educación ambiental y tareas de conservación como las principales
herramientas, en colaboración con otras organizaciones e instituciones a
nivel mundial. MISSION Karumbé (which
means “turtle” in the native Guaraní language) is a Uruguayan non-profit NGO
that unites a group of researchers, conservationists, fishermen and students.
Our mission is to protect endangered marine biodiversity, mainly sea turtles
and their habitats, by promoting the sustainable development of fishing
communities and looking for alternatives to reduce the impact of human
activities on marine animals. Karumbé’s work includes research, environmental
education and conservation activities, as well as collaborations with other
organizations and institutions at both local and global levels. |
